Total Solar Eclipse
We got to see the total solar eclipse near San Antonio, Texas in 2024.

But it took quite a bit of effort to get there and do it cheaply without missing too much class.

We left on Friday, after all our classes had ended. It was around 6PM, and we drove 20 hours through the night to Texas, taking 5-hour shifts.

We arrived on Saturday morning, explored the Nimitz Museum and then went to one of my roommate’s parent’s house to stay the night.

The next day (Sunday) we explored the Alamo

and the River Walk.

Then that Monday morning came the eclipse. We drove closer to the Line of Totality in Kerrville, Texas and waited.
It was amazing. Not much more you can say. Enjoy the photos we took with our telescope.

A partial eclipse.

The total eclipse.

Then, we packed up and drove the 20 hours back, arriving early Tuesday just in time for class.
Appendix: The Food
We had two food musts while in Texas:
- Texas BBQ
- Bluebell Ice Cream
We definitely satisfied the first one.

As for Bluebell, we also got some as soon as we crossed the border; a pint each. Not as good as the eclipse, but still a highlight.

Here is mine: mint chocolate chip.

And here it is less than an hour later.
